Zeus's plans go awry, however, when Ulysses lands on the planet and meets Calypso face to face. The attraction between Ulysses and Calypso is immediate and intense. From that moment on, Calypso is torn between having to obey Zeus's command to kill Ulysses on pain of her own death, and her love of Ulysses, which prevents her harming him. Unable to reconcile these two opposing forces Calypso imprisons Ulysses to buy her time. Zeus, however, demands immediate action otherwise he will destroy her planet. Calypso cannot allow her planet and people to die so she has no choice. She takes her sword and tries to kill Ulysses herself. Ulysses successfully disarms her but it is too late. Zeus starts to destroy the planet just as it is coming back to life. Calypso and her people die, leaving Ulysses broken-hearted.
