THE CUSTODIAN: Delivering his message to Ulysses.
The Custodian does not appear in person, but recorded a message for any future visitors to his planet. In Flowers of Fear, Ulysses and his friends land on the planet in the hope of using its medical facilities to revive their companions. The Custodian, who was probably an elder of the city, tells Ulysses and Telemachus that the people of his planet discovered cures for every disease in Olympus. The gods were unhappy with the number of people being saved and were fearful that they would lose their power. They planted seeds that grew into flowers which killed all life on his planet, leaving just his recorded message to warn future visitors.
