After the Odyssey is brought to the city she meets No-No, who is a similar model of robot. The two immediately fall for each other and for a while No-No is so smitten by Nanette that he forgets about Ulysses, Telemachus and Yumi, who have been captured by Cortex. When Nanette learns that No-No and his friends are trying to find the route to Earth she pleads with Cortex to let them go, but to no avail. Nanette risks her own life by warning Ulysses not to enter Cortex to destroy him. She is saved by No-No, who stops her from being crushed by Cortex as punishment.
In the end, however, Nanette sacrifices her life when she takes No-No to Cortex's central processor and shows him how to cut Cortex's power lines. All the robots in the city draw their power from Cortex himself. With Cortex dead the other robots, including Nanette, are deactivated allowing Ulysses, No-No and the children to escape.
