EURIDICE: Taken across the Styx to Hades.



Orpheus and Euridice are finally reunited in the Kingdom of Hades.


Orpheus was marooned on a planet just outside the Kingdom of Hades. His damaged spaceship was taken by Charon across the River Styx with his fiancee, Euridice, still on board.

In The Kingdom of Hades, the Odyssey crash-lands on the planet and Orpheus begs Ulysses to take him across the Styx and into Hades so he can see Euridice again. Ulysses, seeing Charon drawing the Odyssey across the Styx with his companions aboard, agrees. Together Ulysses, Orpheus, Telemachus, Yumi and No-No follow the Odyssey in a shuttlecraft. Orpheus warns Ulysses about the interceptor satellite, Cerberus, which guards the entrance to Hades. Orpheus had once tried to enter Hades but was beaten back by Cerberus. With Ulysses at the helm they pass Cerberus, but only just, ejecting to safety just before the shuttlecraft is destroyed.

Having entered Hades, Orpheus sees Euridice travelling on a moving staircase which disappears into the darkness. Despite Ulysses's pleading Orpheus jumps onto the staircase and runs after her. Orpheus is reunited with his beloved Euridice, but at great cost: the staircase carries Orpheus and Euridice off into the darkness, where they remain for ever citizens of the Kingdom of Hades.
