Sherka: A sharp increase in external gravitation at approximately thirty seconds from our present position. Ulysses: A planet in our vicinity! We mustn't miss the slightest opportunity. Begin operations to approach the planet. Sherka: Yes, Ulysses.Telemachus, Yumi and No-No are in the Odyssey's garden. A robot is cutting fruit from a plant and Yumi is picking flowers. A couple of pieces of fruit fall on No-No's head. Telemachus picks up one and takes a bite out of it.
No-No: Uh oh.Telemachus looks up to see Yumi walking off carrying a bunch of flowers.
Telemachus: Hey, Yumi! Yumi: I want to see Numinor, my brother, again.The funnel-shaped planet is displayed on the central screen.
Sherka: Distance 50,000 kilometres; visual display confirmation.
Yumi is in the room where the companions are sleeping.
Yumi: Look how beautiful these flowers are, look at them.Yumi shows the flowers to the companions.
Look, Numinor, they're just like the ones on Zotra. That's the same sweet smell, if only you could see them. Our world is so far away I can hardly remember its name. It's so nice here, Numinor. I wish that you could feel what I'm feeling. I'm going leave you a garland of flowers, they smell so good.Yumi smells one of the flowers.
The planet looms large on the screen.
Sherka: Planet with an advanced civilisation. Nevertheless uninhabited, no sign of life. Ulysses: No sign of life you say, Sherka? Sherka: Devoid of life. But the presence of a vital energy impossible to analyse. Ulysses: We have to find out more. Sherka: Odyssey now in orbital position.A scanner flashes to life.
The screen shows pictures of the surface of the planet. There are lots of buildings, their design indicating a technologically advanced civilisation.
Ulysses: It's astonishing! The planet is one great city.The scanner shows more pictures of the city.
An immense city, but completely uninhabited - not a soul in sight. Sherka, I need additional information. Sherka: I have despatched a research probe.An outer door on the Odyssey opens and a probe is launched. It flies through the city, just above the surface, and into one of the buildings. The probe flies down an orange corridor. The Odyssey's central screen displays the pictures sent back by the probe, which show strange spheres.
Ulysses gets up from his seat.
Sherka: Here are the first results, Ulysses. It's a hospital planet. Ulysses: A hospital planet? What do you mean? Sherka: Hospital installations cover almost the entire planet. Ulysses: Sherka, what kind of equipment have you been able to discover? Sherka: Medical equipment designed for reanimation. Ulysses: A giant reanimation hospital. Are you sure of your findings? Sherka: Yes, and it's enormous. Ulysses: By the great galaxy!
In the heart of Olympus and now we've found it. We've got a chance of bringing our companions back to life.Ulysses starts to walk off.
Sherka: Careful, Ulysses, we are not completely out of danger. According to my data, strong vital energy force still present.Ulysses turns to face Sherka.
Ulysses: It's worth taking the risk, I can't afford to draw back now, bringing my companions back to life is more important than our own immediate safety. Sherka: I will carry out the necessary manoeuvres.Telemachus walks onto the bridge, eating one of the fruits. No-No is with him.
Telemachus: You've found something, father? Mmm? It's that planet I see on the screen behind you, isn't it? Ulysses: On that planet, Telemachus, there may be the means to bring our companions back to life. Telemachus: Is it possible? Ulysses: You come with me, Telemachus. And you, No-No, go and find Yumi. Tell her what we are doing. You will both wait here for my instructions.Yumi is in the room with the companions; she is making a daisy-chain out of the flowers. No-No runs in.
No-No: Yumi. Yumi: Oh it's you, No-No.No-No runs up the steps and sits next to Yumi.
No-No: What would you say if I told you that they've left us all alone?Yumi gets up, glances at Numinor, then runs off.
A shuttlecraft leaves the Odyssey. The door of the bridge opens and Yumi and No-No run in.
Yumi: You are right, they have gone. But where?Yumi and No-No run to the bridge and see the shuttlecraft displayed on the central screen.
No-No: Ulysses says on this planet there may be a way to bring our companions back to life. Yumi: Oh, that would be wonderful, No-No. Do you really think so?Looking up from the surface of the planet we see the shuttlecraft flying overhead.
Ulysses: Sherka, an information link. We are about to explore the reanimation buildings, the electro-dynamic reanimation theatre appears to be functional.The central screen shows a view of the city as seen from the shuttlecraft.
Yumi: What does he mean, reanimation, Sherka? Sherka: This planet is one enormous hospital. Its reanimation facilities may enable us to bring our comrades back to life. Yumi: Did you hear that, No-No? I must go to that planet, Numinor is my brother and we have to wake him up no matter what. No-No: Hey, wait! That's not been authorised. Yumi: I must take my brother down there right now. Come on and help me!Yumi runs off. No-No thinks for a second, then runs after her.
No-No: Hey, wait a second! It's not authorised.No-No catches up with Yumi who is in the corridor outside the bridge.
Ulysses said we should wait right here. Yumi: Wait, always wait. He's my brother!Yumi grabs No-No's hand and runs off.
The shuttlecraft lands on the planet. Ulysses and Telemachus remove their helmets as their seats lower to the ground. They get out.
Ulysses: It's a strange place, stay alert. I'd still like to know what that energy transmission is all about.They look around them.
Telemachus: If people were living here once where did they all go? Ulysses: Be careful. Come on. Telemachus: Right.Ulysses and Telemachus walk up to the door of a building. As the door opens they walk inside. The door closes behind them. The ground on which they were standing, and on which the shuttlecraft has landed, begins to crack.
Yumi is in the room with the companions. She is pushing a floating capsule towards Numinor. No-No is still protesting.
No-No: Yumi, no you can't. Yumi: Stop that and help me quickly. No-No: No! Yumi: It's to save him, you understand? Save him.As Yumi tugs at Numinor's legs he lowers slightly but as she relaxes her grip he floats back into position.
Oh hurry, please! No-No: But I'm not supposed to, I can't.Yumi pulls again and No-No opens the lid of the floating bed.
Ulysses and Telemachus are looking at the control panel of one of the machines in the building.
Telemachus: Father, look: is this a reanimation unit, do you think? Ulysses: It may be, I don't know. Let's look further on.They turn around and walk out of the building. The automatic doors open as they approach and close behind them. As they step outside they see the cracks on the ground.
Telemachus: Father, look at that at our feet.Ulysses and Telemachus look around them. The ground is covered with cracks for as far as the eye can see.
It's very strange. I didn't see it when we landed. Ulysses: Maybe we just didn't notice. Let's go.As Ulysses and Telemachus walk towards the shuttlecraft the cracks widen slightly. Unseen by them a tentacle appears from one of the cracks. Ulysses and Telemachus climb into the shuttlecraft, which takes off. After the craft takes off the cracks widen further and more tentacles appear.
Yumi and No-No are pushing the floating capsule containing Numinor into a shuttlecraft.
No-No: Come on, hurry up. I just hope nothing goes wrong.Yumi stops pushing the capsule and looks through the glass at Numinor sleeping inside.
Yumi: I know I can save him, I know I can!Yumi and No-No take their places at the controls. No-No presses a button on the base of Yumi's seat and it rises into position. No-No jumps into the seat beside her.
No-No: Ready? We're off. Yumi: Thank you, No-No.Yumi kisses No-No. The shuttlecraft launches and heads for the planet.
Ulysses and Telemachus have landed in another part of the city. As they get out a display panel in the city flickers to life and a voice booms out from it.
Custodian: Welcome! Enter, human beings. Have no fear.Ulysses and Telemachus enter a building. Meanwhile, unseen by either of them, cracks appear in the ground beneath the shuttlecraft. Inside the building they approach a communicator, which fires to life. Just above the communicator a holographic picture of an old man appears.
Custodian: Welcome to you, strangers, whoever you may be. There is nothing you can do for me for I am no more than a flickering picture, but learn from me and you can do a great deal for the rest of the universe. Telemachus: How? Do you understand anything of all this? Custodian: But first you must know of the dangers that lie in wait for you if you remain on this planet.With this revelation Ulysses and Telemachus look uneasily at each other.
The shuttlecraft piloted by Yumi is flying just above the surface of the planet. It lands and the door opens.
Yumi: Let's not lose any time - quickly!Yumi and No-No get out, slide down the wheel and land on the ground.
No-No: Yes, yes.As Yumi and No-No run towards the building cracks appear in the ground by their feet.
Ulysses and Telemachus listen as the old man continues with his story.
Custodian: We discovered ways of curing every sickness in Olympus by using the very energy contained in Olympus itself, even to restoring life to those who had lost it. Ulysses: The energy of Olympus. Now I understand why we were not able to analyse it. Custodian: But we saved too many lives to suit the gods and they began to lose their power so they threw down some seeds on the ground which have a fearful power.As the man speaks we see Yumi and No-No inside the building, while outside the cracks widen further and tentacles appear. These tentacles can be seen clearly and turn out to be the stalks of flowers.
They can detect even the slightest presence, and when they do they grow at incredible speed and destroy those who cannot escape. They are everywhere and always seek for signs of life. You are living creatures and no doubt they have already sensed your presence. Flee now, strangers, and do not return until you can defeat them.The image disappears.
Telemachus: Father!Ulysses and Telemachus look at each other as they realise the gravity of their situation.
Ulysses: By the great galaxy he's right, we mustn't stay here one more minute. Come on.They turn around and leave.
Yumi and No-No have located the machine which can revive Numinor.
Yumi: There, there it is, I can feel it, he's going to come back to life. No-No: Oh, all these machines. Yumi: Look, an instruction chart. No-No: Can you read that? Yumi: Yes, it's in universal language, it's easy to understand. No-No, go and get Numinor while I read it.No-No scurries off. Yumi clasps her hands.
Oh, it's wonderful! My brother's going to come back to life again.Ulysses and Telemachus step outside the building and see that the whole place is covered with giant flowers. Each one of these flowers is at least fifty feet tall.
Ulysses: By the belt of Orion! Telemachus: Oh look, father! Ulysses: There isn't a minute to lose. We'll leave this planet at once.The flowers 'see' Ulysses and Telemachus as they make their way to the shuttlecraft. The flowers energise and fire bolts of light at them.
Careful! Quickly, Telemachus.Ulysses uses his shield to deflect the bolts as the two of them run towards the shuttlecraft. As the shuttlecraft takes off the flowers rise up on their stems and look up at the craft as it flies away.
No-No is about to push the capsule containing Numinor out of the shuttlecraft. He looks around him and sees that the place is covered in flowers, however he is undisturbed.
No-No: What do you know? I didn't notice that we came down in the middle of a garden. I'm going to pick a flower for Yumi.As No-No touches one of the flowers it gives him an electric shock.
Whoops, what's the matter with it? It's crazy, this plant. I'll tell Ulysses about it.No-No pushes the capsule into the building. After No-No has entered the building the flowers surround the shuttlecraft and fire at it. The shuttlecraft melts.
Ulysses and Telemachus are in their shuttlecraft and are heading back to the Odyssey. They see that the plants have now covered the entire city.
Telemachus: Dad, look! It's too much. Plants all over the place. Ulysses: We were very lucky that we found out in time. Sherka, stand by we're coming aboard. Sherka: Information update: Yumi and No-No left the ship with Numinor. Ulysses: Oh, by the great galaxy! Calling Yumi, Ulysses calling Yumi, come in.There is no reply.
We must definitely find them, and fast. We'd better go in different directions.Telemachus nods and presses a button on the control panel. His seat drops down and into another part of the shuttlecraft.
Are you ready, Telemachus? Telemachus: Yes, father, I'm ready.The shuttlecraft breaks into two separate vehicles, one piloted by Ulysses, the other by Telemachus.
A ring of light circles Numinor's body as he levitates in the reactivation chamber. Elements on the ring glow as he is rotated into a vertical position.
No-No: Are you sure you're sure this isn't dangerous? Yumi: I'm sure. The only thing that's very important: once the treatment begins it can't be interrupted. Otherwise, according to the instructions, he might die.More elements on the ring start to glow.
After two or three treatments he'll come back to consciousness, I know it.Numinor's body glows bright yellow. Sparks and lights dance around his body as Yumi is bathed in white light.
Come back, dear brother. Wake up, please. I need you so much, I miss you.Yumi closes her eyes. Outside the flowers are firing at the door of the building. The door melts and they make their way into the building and towards the room in which Yumi and No-No are working.
Telemachus looks out of the window of his shuttlecraft but can see only flowers.
Ulysses: Still no sign on your side?
Telemachus: No. Plants have covered everything, hard to see. Ulysses: Keep looking, we have to find them. Telemachus: Yes, father.The flowers advance along a corridor towards the room in which Yumi and No-No are working. White rings of light move along Numinor's body as he levitates horizontally in the reactivation chamber.
Yumi: I can feel he's coming back to life. It's working, his body's warming up. No-No: It better work. Because otherwise...The flowers continue their advance until they reach the door behind which Yumi and No-No are trying to revive Numinor. They fire at the door. Yumi and No-No hear the sound of the firing.
Yumi: Oh, what's happening, what is it? No-No: How do you expect me to know?A door is glowing. Smoke pours from the centre of the door and after a few seconds the door vaporises. The flowers move into the room.
Yumi: No-No, go see what it is, please go on. No-No: Why does it always have to be me? Yumi: I can't leave now, my brother's life depends on it. No-No: Oh, I knew that I wasn't going to like this.No-No leaves to investigate.
Telemachus looks out of the window of his shuttlecraft to see that the flowers are crowding around something.
Telemachus: Oh, by the great galaxy! Father, father! Right I think I've found them. I'm pretty sure that they're there but the plants have destroyed a part of the building - reanimation unit. They're climbing inside - quick! Ulysses: Cursing comets, the reanimation unit! I'm coming. Telemachus: All those flowers, they'll kill them. I have to... Ulysses: ...no, Telemachus, it's too dangerous.Telemachus flies towards the reanimation unit. He flies through the flowers, which fire at him. However, he is able to outmanoeuvre them and lands on a high point of the building which the flowers have not yet reached. He gets out of his shuttlecraft and runs towards the entrance.
No-No is running as fast as he can along a corridor as he is being pursued by the flowers. He runs into the room and presses a button to close the door behind him. The door closes just in time.
No-No: Yumi, Yumi, these plants are a little funny. Let's get out of here. Yumi: What are you talking about? Plants? Flowers can't be dangerous. No-No: Well, these ones don't look too friendly - come on, lets go!No-No tugs at Yumi's hand.
The flowers are firing at the door. Telemachus runs down some steps.
Telemachus: Yumi, No-No, where are you? Yumi! No-No!He sees the plants firing at the door.
I don't believe this. Oh, Yumi!Yumi looks up in horror as the plants break through the door. Just in time Telemachus appears.
Yumi: Telemachus! Telemachus: Hurry, we have to get away. Where's Numinor?Telemachus, Yumi and No-No run behind a glass door, which closes behind them. They can see the flowers in the room.
Yumi: There - he's coming back to life. Telemachus: No, Yumi, you don't understand. Yumi: Come on!Yumi leads Telemachus to the reactivation chamber.
Telemachus: You can't go on with it, we could be killed any minute. We have to go away, and fast. Yumi: No, if we stop the reanimation we'll kill him for ever. Telemachus: You mean he could never be awakened? No-No: It's true. If we stop the machine he would have terrible troubles. Yumi: Look! The treatment's almost over. Just a little while longer and it's finished.The flowers start to bear down on the glass door behind which they are hiding.
Telemachus: Oh, too late, Yumi.The plants fire on the door.
Watch out!Ulysses is flying overhead and sees Telemachus's shuttlecraft.
Ulysses: Oh!As the flowers continue to fire the glass door glows red. The lights on the control panel of the device reviving Numinor indicate that the reanimation process is nearly complete.
Telemachus: By the great galaxy!Holes appear in the glass door. The holes get bigger and bigger until the glass that remains falls to the floor leaving Telemachus, Yumi and No-No defenceless.
No-No: Oh my, oh my, oh my. Yumi: My brother, we have to protect my brother! Oh.The flowers prepare to fire on Telemachus, Yumi and No-No now that they have nothing to hide behind, however before they can Ulysses appears and fires first, destroying a couple of the plants.
Telemachus: Oh, it's my father.The remaining plants turn to face Ulysses. Ulysses fires again and destroys a few more. He runs forward with his light sabre and slashes at the flowers' stems.
Ulysses: Run to the ship! Yumi: What about Numinor? No-No: The second cycle is over. Telemachus: Get him out, quick.The lights dancing around Numinor's body fade to nothing as the cycle completes. Numinor floats to the ground as Yumi approaches him.
Ulysses uses his shield to deflect the bolts fired at them by the remaining flowers as he cuts at them with his light sabre. While Ulysses battles, Yumi and No-No put Numinor into the floating capsule and push him out of the room. Ulysses follows, firing at the remaining flowers.
Ulysses: There's no time to lose.Telemachus, Yumi and No-No are now outside the building and are making their way towards the shuttlecraft. No-No opens a hatch in the side of the shuttlecraft and the floating capsule is pushed inside. More flowers appear and head for them.
Telemachus: Father, over there! Careful!Ulysses runs out of the building, fires at the flowers and destroys them.
Watch out - the plants are catching up with you!More flowers appear from the building. Ulysses turns to see the plants fire at them. Ulysses returns fire and destroys them. Telemachus and Yumi take off in one of the shuttlecraft. Ulysses climbs into his shuttlecraft and launches, however the flowers have formed a canopy over it. The shuttlecraft strains against the canopy of plants and is just able to break through and fly away. Yumi looks out of her window to see Ulysses flying safely alongside.
The recorded message from the Custodian continues playing on the planet, which is now swamped with flowers.
Custodian: You must know of the dangers that lie in wait for you if you remain on this planet... this planet... this planet... this planet...Ulysses, Telemachus, Yumi and No-No are on the bridge of the Odyssey looking at the planet.
Yumi: I'm sorry I made you risk your lives for me, but I wanted so much to revive him. Ulysses: I understand.Ulysses bends down.
I, too, long to revive all our faithful companions. But you should have trusted me a little more. Yumi: Forgive me, Ulysses.Ulysses and Yumi hug each other.
Ulysses: We must never give up hope.Telemachus puts a hand on Yumi's shoulder.
Stay united, my children and be comforted. Together we'll triumph and escape from Olympus, I give you my word of honour.Ulysses hugs all of them as they look out into open space.
